On Sunday I went out to clean the pony's stall and run in shed and noticed Chloe had some puss coming out of her left eye, I took her out and cleaned around her eye and looked to see if I could see hay or something stuck in it and everything looked to be normal except for the puss.. Today I went out to check on her and clean the stall and it's even worse, I did the same thing cleaned the eye and looked to see if I could see something and didn't notice anything, and her right eye is completely fine, could this be a cold? or does it sound more like an infection? I plan on calling the vets in the morning, but our place is flooded right now so I don't have the option of taking her to the vets, and I don't think the vets would make it up our driveway between the water and ice, we wont even take our vehicles through it so far this new year sucks! Photo before I cleaned it, Monday Jan 6th.

I could be a cold but it may also be a foreign body in the eye which can lead to infection or ulceration in the eye (and eventually blindness) Eyes are not something to mess with IMO and I would do what I had to to have her examined by a vet. Could you lead her down your driveway to meet a vet at the end of it? I'm not sure where you are but if you're in PG Dr. Green will come to you even I think under those less than ideal conditions. In the meantime if you can get some polysporin eye drops at the pharmacy or even just saline drops and flush the eye some it could help to wash out a small piece of hay or dirt if that is the problem. Good luck and please keep us posted

Thanks bully, Chloe's eye has now cleared up she did have some kind of infection, we're unsure what from, but since my vet wasn't able to come out they looked and photos and guessed it was some kind of infection and sent me home with antibiotic eye drop and with using it for 4 days it cleared up, but they suggested even tho it cleared up to keep using the drops for 10 days to ensure the infection is gone

Agreed - would rather try the drops and keep using them for the full length of the treatment. How is she doing now?

Her eye is doing great now minus some of the thick crusty stuff that I wasn't able to clean because if froze over night, but her eye is back to normal. Now the poor girl is loosing caps, she can't catch a break!. On a bright note, I think I might be able to get a farrier through our driveway for her to get a pedicure!
