Well, once again it's time to face the dilemma - to vaccinate, or not. Provided Katie is due to foal March 16 (which it is hard to tell as she is still not really showing and may be just "hefty"!), she is coming due for her routine vaccinations.
I just wondered what everyone else's take was on giving vaccinations to the mare one month prior to foaling, so as to pass the protection onto the foal. I would usually have done tetanus, influenza, EEE and WEE.
However, with her last two vaccinations, she did have a reaction, so I didn't end up finishing her rhino shots during the pregnancy (which is why those other two needles are for sale if anyone is interested!). So I am struggling... vaccinate? Or not? Protect the baby, or protect the mom?
What do you think?
